Dear Parents/Guardians, 

It’s time for our annual Apple Valley Elementary STEM Fair! This exciting event encourages students to think and act like young scientists. During the next few weeks, your child will be designing and carrying out a science experiment/engineering project that uses the scientific method to answer a specific question. We hope you agree that the educational benefits are numerous as students develop skills in writing, oral presentation, creative thinking, and problem solving.  STEM Fair participation is encouraged for all grades, and is completely optional, with the opportunity for those who win in 5th grade to go on and present at a district level and beyond.   

Please encourage your child to select a project that will match their interests and abilities.  It should be something that they will enjoy and understand. Projects need to align with one of the following categories: Chemistry; Computer Science; Earth & Environmental Science; Engineering; Life Science; Physics, Astronomy, & Mathematics; and Product Testing & Consumer Science. Display boards will be required and provided by the school. If your child wants to work with a partner, they will need to clear it with their teacher first.
